The week in review

Sooo ... the new job is winning. I just spent almost 16 straight hours working, and I may have to do some more today. If only I could get paid to create these comics ... Hopefully I'll get out at least one more comic this week.

Update on comics

Well, once again life has taken over, and I've fallen behind on my goal to post at least one new comic a day. Perhaps transitioning to a new job has something to do with it. Or perhaps I'm just a man who prefers excuses to results. Whatever. I just know there aren't any new comics, and that HAS TO BE CORRECTED! So, look for some new comics after tonight. I'm thinking of starting a on new "failed superheroes" theme.

In the meantime, thank you to all of you who recently took a chance on my comics based on my lovely wife's recent post. (Thank you, Freddy!) It's been very gratifying to read your comments and learn that someone other than myself (and occasionally Mendy) enjoys my sense of humor. Hopefully you'll continue to stop by from time to time, and maybe even recommend my blog to some of your friends. Feel free to comment on any comics you enjoyed (or hated). I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Vulnerability

Seriously, though, ladies--I love Jane Austen. What sensitive modern male doesn't?

It's nearly Easter!

Hot Roman Princess Librarian

For my brother, Dan, and my dad.

This is what it sounds like when the doves *sigh*

I sometimes envy Mother Nature's creatures with their freedom to live outdoors and do whatever they want to do. That is, until I realize I'd have to live outdoors and do whatever to survive.

Resume

This one was inspired by a famous incident a few years back with Bill Richardson. I found this quote from him that I'd kept when I was cleaning up my office:

Membership drive

Greetings, dear reader. Like NPR, I'm on a membership drive. If you like these comics, please tell a friend. The only reward I get out of posting them (besides the vanity boost) is seeing that others are reading them. For just one email, link, tweet, or whatever it is you do a day, you can help feed a starving ego. That's even less than a cup of coffee. (Take that, Sally Struthers!) In fact, you could even drink your coffee while you do it. (If you drink coffee ...)

For those of you whose heart is moved to action by this message, feel free to use the carefully worded press release below:

Family and friends (you're either one or the other, you can't be both),

I've encountered an obscure blog on the Interweb with poorly drawn comics and bad humor. With your poor taste, I thought you'd be interested. Check it out: http://sticky-comic.blogspot.com.

Oh, yeah, and enjoy the weekend!

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Ever since I first took a fall, I've found it amusing that it's called "The Gentle Way".

Science

G.I. Joe was right: knowing is half the battle, the losing half.

For those who find this post obscure, science doesn't prove anything, it just disproves things. Of course, I'm oversimplifying--my explanation is only approximately true. (Yes, this is another attempt at humor, since many philosophers claim that science is just an approximation of the truth.) See Wikipedia for more.

The invisible hand

The market - like your mother, it's always there to correct you and clean up your messes. Unlike your mother, it doesn't love you. (Then again, if pimp-slaps equal love ...)

Monuments gone wild

Personally, if I were going to worship a monument, it would be the Statue of Liberty. She's in a toga, wearing a tiara, holding a book--she's basically a hot Roman princess librarian! Plus, she's got fire!

I see myself, I think ...

You can't see it, but the book in the first panel was supposed to have the letters "GED", not because Sticky is completing his, but in reference to the book "Godel, Escher, Bach", which is where I first found the idea that self-reference may be the seed of consciousness.

Fun for the whole family!

ARRGH!!

Just kidding. It's not that bad.

I'm a bit disappointed in myself that lately I haven't kept up on my goal of one new comic a day. Work and life have been crazy lately. Not to worry, though, I hope to post something new tonight, so check back again soon.

For those of you that are counting, here's the numbers:

61 days of 2010 so far and only 33 comics. I'm in the hole 28 comics. Oy, I've got to get going!

In the meantime, here's hoping I don't have to write another post with a title like an angry pirate ...
